Real Name: Wanda Maximoff Affiliation:Avengers Previous Affiliations: Force Works, Lady Liberators, Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (I) Status: Married (Vision), although his recent deactivation may
have constituted him legally dead, and therefore the marriage would
have ended. Relatives: Magnus (Magneto, father),
Magda (mother, deceased), Vision (ex?-husband), Thomas (construct son),
William (construct son), Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver, twin brother), Anya (sister,
deceased), Django Maximoff (adoptive father), Marya Maximoff (adoptive
mother) Powers: Wanda has a mutant probability-altering power, which she
sometimes manifests as "hex-bolts." Essentially, Wanda's power creates a field which alters the probabilities of events, making unlikely things happen. The field's range is limited by her line of sight. The Scarlet Witch has limited magical abilities, which mainly serve to enhance her mutant power's reliability, but due to her training under the sorceress Agatha Harkness, she has the unrealized potential to be a very powerful sorceress. While primarily an Avengers character, Scarlet Witch came into contact with the X-Men very early in her
career, as a member of her father Magneto's Brotherhood. During her time as an active Avenger, Wanda fell in love with and married the Vision, a synthezoid and fellow Avenger. Wanda then used her powers to allow herself to be impregnated by the Vision, and gave birth to two boys. Since the boys were actually creations of their mother's mutant powers, they were unable to live on their own, and disappeared whenever their mother was unconscious. When Wanda found out that the boys were actually two pieces of the demon Mephisto's soul given form by her, she went insane, rejoined the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and then fell in with Immortus, becoming a nexus for all probabilities. After Onslaught, and her return from the pocket dimension created by Franklin Richards, Wanda was able to communicate with and summon the ionic energy form of the dead Avenger Wonder Man, with whom she shared a strong emotional connection. During a battle with the Grim Reaper and a group of dead Avengers, Wanda used her love to actually resurrect Wonder Man, who has rejoined the team. The Vision, whose body had been destroyed and rebuilt twice since their marriage, has assured Wanda that he no longer has the emotions of her husband, and that his destruction constituted his death, and so she should consider their marriage over. It appears, however, that he still feels for her, and only told her this to help her move on with her life. Recently, with Captain America's disappearance and Iron Man's incapacitation, Wanda accepted the role of deputy leader of the Avengers. She also journeyed to Genosha at the U.N.'s behest to see how Magneto was running the country. When things got dicey due to the Carrion Cover rebellion, she summoned her teammates, but they were trounced and forced to leave once Magneto regained full command of his abilities. Wanda has cut off all communication with Magneto.
